You can use the SmartServer IoT LEDs to get an overview of the SmartServer IoT status and operation. The following figure and table display and describes these LEDs.

Power

On (blue) when powered; flashing (alternating green/off) when connecting.

LAN

On (blue) when a LAN connection is active (i.e. an active device is sensed at the other end of the Ethernet cable attached to the LAN port, which is typically a switch) but no data is sensed through the LAN port (either inbound or outbound); flashing (alternating green/off) when data is sensed thru the LAN port (either inbound or outbound); off when no LAN connection is available.

Ready
Ready LED indicators are featured with SmartServer release 3.2 or higher.

The Ready LED indicates the following conditions on system startup and following a system update:

  • Startup/Update – flashing blue (alternating between blue and off every 500ms) indicates system startup/update process.
  • Ready – solid blue indicates that the CMS is active and ready for a user to login.

The READY LED initially flashes red when the SmartServer is being re-imaged. With SmartServer 3.4 or higher, flashing red can also indicate licensing failures, including the startup of an unlicensed version of the SmartServer software. Insufficient capacity and expired maintenance licenses are not considered licensing failures and will not cause flashing red Ready LED.

With SmartServer 4.0 and higher, the Ready LED may initially flash red (instead of blue) during an export/import of the SmartServer database or settings. Once the export/import is completed, the CMS will restart resulting in a flashing blue Ready LED. Finally, a solid blue Ready LED indicates normal operations.

  • Error – flashing red (alternating between red and off every 250ms) indicates that the CMS failed to start, or other fatal system error detected by the SmartServer software. Pressing the Connect button for more than 20 seconds also causes a flashing red indicator.

WAN

On (blue) when a WAN connection is active (i.e. an active device is sensed at the other end of the Ethernet cable attached to the WAN port, which is typically a switch) but no data is sensed through the WAN port (either inbound or outbound); flashing (alternating green/off) when data is sensed thru the WAN port (either inbound or outbound); off when no WAN connection is available.
