The i.LON 600 FT can be replaced with an i.LON 700 plus U60 FT, and the i.LON 600 TP-1250 can be replaced with an i.LON 700 plus U60 TP-1250 interface. 

If you are using the RNI on the i.LON 600, you can use the RNI on the i.LON 700 as described in Configure the LON Remote Network Interface (RNI). 

If you are using the IP-852 router in the i.LON 600, you can use the IP-852 router in the i.LON 700 as described in Configure LON Routers. 

If you are using IP-852, both the i.LON 600 and i.LON 700 require use of an IP-852 configuration server as described in Configure the LON/IP-852 Configuration Server.

If you are using IP-852 and installing your network with a LON network management tool such as the IzoT Commissioning Tool (CT), there are changes to the installation of the i.LON 700 versus the i.LON 600. When using a LON network management tool, the i.LON 600 appears as a single LON router with one LON/IP-852 channel and one LON/FT or LON/TP-1250 channel. The i.LON 700 appears as multiple routers all attached to a common LON/IP-70 backbone channel.

When you enable the IP-852 interface and LON routing on the i.LON 700, you will have an IP-70 to IP-852 router in your i.LON 700. When you enable LON routing and plug in a U60 FT, U60 TP-1250, or U70 PL interface, you will have an IP-70 to FT, TP-1250, or PL router. You can plug in multiple LON interfaces to create a multi-channel router supporting up to eight native LON channels plus an IP-852 channel. When you configure the routers using a LON network management tool such as IzoT CT, configure them as configured routers to optimize network traffic.

Example 1

If you attach one U60 FT interface to an i.LON 700 and enable both LON routing and the IP-852 interface, you will have two routers in the i.LON 700 — one IP-70 to FT router and one IP-70 to IP-852 router. Both routers have to be installed and commissioned in the LON network management tool. Configure both routers as configured routers.

Example 2

If you plug in one U60 TP-1250 interface plus three U60 FT interfaces, and enable both LON routing and the IP-852 interface, you will have four routers in the i.LON 700 — one IP-70 to IP-852 router,  and three IP-70 to FT routers. All four routers have to be installed and commissioned in the LON network management tool.
