KB891 - GetAutorization Error -14: RESTRICTION FILE BAD CRC and the license wizard is asking for an enormous number credits to make up the deficit

Problem

License Error GetAutorization Error -14: RESTRICTION FILE BAD CRC deficit Remaining is large negative number

Solution

A. LonMaker Workaround (DOS Commands):

Go to a DOS Prompt

To enter a DOS prompt, press keyboard Window key + R, or go to the Windows Start > Run and type "cmd" for Win XP and Win 2000, or "command" for Win 98 and then press the OK button.

Change to the LNS License directory

c:

cd \windows\LNS Licenses

Delete the lonmaker.* files

c:\Windows\LNS Licenses>dir /ah

Check if you see any lonmaker.* files

c:\Windows\LNS Licenses>del lonmaker.* /ah

c:\Windows\LNS Licenses>dir /ah

Make sure you don't see any lonmaker.* files

Follow FAQ 5 in the LonMaker License FAQ and ask for the number of credits you believe were lost.

cd \
dir lonmaker.* /s /ah

c:\Windows\LNS Licenses>dir /ah

Make sure you don't see any nsseng.* files

Follow FAQ 5 in the LonMaker License FAQ and ask for the number of credits you believe were lost.
