Licenses for SmartConnect 4.5 Update 1 and 2 Are Not Working

If you are using SmartConnect 4.5 Update 1 or 2, then follow the steps in this section to license SmartConnect.

  1. Install SmartConnect 4.5 Update 1. See Release Notes for software download links.

    1. See Set up and Install SmartConnect for a new SmartConnect installation.

    2. See Updating or Re-imaging SmartConnect if you are updating or re-imaging your SmartConnect.

  2. Retrieve the scl_ems.dat file and place it in the /home/apollo directory on your SmartConnect.

  3. Open a terminal connection to SmartConnect.

  4. Copy the scl_ems.dat file to /var/smartserver/conf.d/scl_ems.dat using the following command:

    cp scl_ems.dat  /var/smartserver/conf.d/scl_ems.dat

     

  5. Restart the lim process using the following command:

    ssctl restart lim

     

  6. Verify that lim is active using the following command:

    ssctl status lim


    A result similar to the following appears:

    lim                                active since Thu 2025-03-27 12:09:32 EDT; 23ms ago

     

  7. Reboot SmartConnect using the following command:

    sudo reboot

     

  8. After the reboot is finished, open the SmartConnect CMS.

    The Manage Licenses dialog appears.

  9. Submit your Customer ID. If you attempted to submit your Customer ID prior to staging the scl_ems.dat file as described in the steps above, then first submit 0 (zero) as the Customer ID, and then submit the desired Customer ID.

    You can now use the Manage Licenses dialog to download licenses for your SmartConnect.
