Viewing Data Trend Reports

Data trend reports present datapoint information over a period of time using the logged data for a datapoint. By default, data logging for all datapoints is disabled. You can enable datapoint logging using the Datapoint Properties widgetIn order to view data trend reports, you must first create a report definition and then generate the report.

Data Trend Reports are available for scalar datapoints that are monitored. For structured datapoints, use the Datapoints widget.

This section describes these operations and consists of the following:

Creating a Report Definition

You can create a data trend report definition using the Report Definition widget. To create a data trend report, perform the following steps:

  1. Open the SmartServer CMS.

  2. Open the Report Definition widget.



  3. Click the Action button () and select the Create Definition action.



    The Create Definition view appears.



  4. Enter values for the following report parameters:

    • Name – the report name
    • Type – Data Trend Report
    • Scope type – Device
    • Selection type – Multiple select



  5. Click NEXT.

  6. Enter values for the following report parameters:

    • Search – select device(s)
    • Granularity – select None, Hour, Minute, Day, Week, 2-Week, Month, or Year
    • Select datapoint – select the datapoint for which the report is to be generated



  7. Click SAVE.

    The new report definition is added to the Report Definition widget.


Generating Reports

You can generate a report using the Report Definition widget. To generate a report, perform the following steps:

  1. Open the SmartServer CMS.

  2. Open the Report Definition widget.



  3. Click the Action button () for the desired report and select the Generate Report action.



    The Generate Report widget is added to the CMS dashboard. You may need to scroll down to view this widget, or you can click on the report name located on the left side of the dashboard for quick access.



  4. On the Generate Report widget, define the time period for which you wish to have the report generated from the list of available dropdown options:

    • Custom period
    • Last month
    • Last week
    • Last year
    • This year
    • This month
    • This week
    • Today
    • Previous month
    • Previous week
    • Previous year
    • |Yesterday

  5. Click GENERATE.

    The report is displayed. Click the Expand button ).  



  6. You can use the buttons located on the top right area of the Generate Report widget to save the current report as a PDF file (), to save all reports as a PDF file (), or to save all reports as a CSV file ().

Showing Reports

You can view generated reports using the Report Definition widget. To view generated reports, perform the following steps:

  1. Open the SmartServer CMS.

  2. Open the Report Definition widget.



  3. Click the Action button () for the desired report and select the Show Reports action.



    A report list appears.



  4. Click the Show Report button ( ) to display the report.




    Or, click the Back button ( ) to return to the Report Definition view.

Removing a Report Definition

You can remove a report definition using the Report Definition widget. To remove a report definition, perform the following steps:

  1. Open the SmartServer CMS.

  2. Open the Report Definition widget.



  3. Click the Action button () for the desired report and select the Remove action.

    Note: Removing a report definition also deletes related reports.



    A confirmation dialog box appears.



  4. Click OK to remove the selected report definition and related reports.

Troubleshooting tips if you do not see data at an expected time

  • Data logging may not be enabled for this datapoint, or it may not be enabled for this time period.
  • Datapoint logging may have been configured for value changes, but the value didn't change during this time period.
  • The SmartServer may have ben powered off during this time period.
  • The edge device may have ben powered off during this time period.
  • The Devices widget SmartServer logging may have been disabled during this time period.
  • The Devices widget Pause All Monitoring Events was active during this time period.
