The CMS Import/Export button is available with SmartServer 3.5 and higher. For SmartServer 2.7 Update 1 and higher and prior to 3.5, the CMS Import/Export feature is available with the CMS Settings button.

You can use the SmartServer CMS Import/Export dialog (shown below)to back up (export) and restore (import) the SmartServer system, database, and configuration files. Click the Import/Export button (image-20250227-194946.png) located on the SmartServer app bar to use the Import/Export dialog.

You can delete backup files from the the CMS Devices widget, Segment Controllers tab (shown below). You can also view SmartServer status information and enable or disable data and/or event logging. The steps in this section describe how to delete backups.

  1. Open the SmartServer CMS.

  2. Open the Devices widget. Click the Expand button (image-20250227-195024.png). 

  3. Select the Segment Controllers tab.

  4. Click the Action button () and select the Delete Backups action.


    The Delete Backups view appears allowing you to select the backup files to be deleted.


    For SmartSupervisor, an additional option Remote CMS (SmartSupervisor) appears as shown in the example below. With SmartServer 4.2 and higher, Full System is called SmartServer.

  5. Select the type(s) of Backup Contents that you want to delete. 

    Available backup files are displayed for each selected type. The figure below shows the Database, Settings, and SmartServer options selected; therefore, all available backup files are listed.

  6. Select the backup file(s) to be deleted by clicking the checkmark(s), or click the Select All button () for all files. The checkmark changes from blue to yellow.

  7. Click Delete Selected.

    The backup file(s) that you selected is deleted and the Devices widget appears.
