You can export connection definitions using the Connections widget. This feature is supported through the Connections widget in both the locked and unlocked states and can be performed from either the CONNECTION TEMPLATES or the DEPLOYED CONNECTIONS tab. You can import connection definitions using the SmartServer CMS Import/Export button (
) that is located on the SmartServer app bar.
This section describes how to export / import connection definitions and consists of the following:

- Open the Connections widget, CONNECTION TEMPLATES tab (default). If the Connections widget has been locked, then click the Unlock Operations button (
) to enable all widget operations.
- To export a connection template/deployed connection, click the Action button (
) for the desired connection and select the Export action.

Or, to export multiple connection templates/deployed connection, click the Action button (
) and select the Export All action, or the Export Selected action if any connections are selected.

The connection file is saved to your PC with the .con extension. Supported file extensions are .con, .csv, or .con.csv. See the Importing a Connection File section for information on how to import a connection file.

Connection files that have been exported from the Connections widget, or that have been manually created, can be imported using the SmartServer CMS Import/Export button (). To import connection files, perform the following steps:
- Click the Import/Export button () that is located on the SmartServer app bar.
The Import/Export dialog appears.
- Place the connection file, or browse to it on your PC, into the Drop files to import area.
- Click the IMPORT button.
A message appears indicating that the file is being loaded.
- Click CANCEL to close the Import/Export dialog.
- Go to the Connections widget to see the imported connection(s). If you do not see the changes, then click the Refresh button (
).
