To schedule a new calendar event, follow these steps:

1. To create a calendar event, open the Calendar widget.
   
   
   
   
2. Click the Create Event button ().
   
   The Create Event view appears.
   
   
   
   
3. Enter the calendar event details including the following:
   
   
   • Event Name – sets the event name that appears in the different views (not required to be unique).
     
     
   • All Day – sets a calendar event as an all-day event for a specified date. If this option is selected, the calendar event cannot be specified for a date and time range.
     
     
   • Select Color – allows the event to appear color-coded on the calendar from a palette.
     
     
   • Stagger – sets the number of seconds (a non-zero, positive integer value) between updating each target governed by that schedule. 
     
     

   • Priority – sets the priority to Normal, or a value from 1 (highest) to 16 (lowest).

     Note: With SmartServer IoT 2.7 Update 1, the priority default setting is Normal. With the Normal priority setting, if no other event is defined, the event with a Normal priority remains active. If a priority is set (1-16), the event scheduler relinquishes to the next higher priority event that is defined.

     
     

   • Action – sets the datapoint value or datapoint preset (i.e., Set datapoint value or Set datapoint preset). Presets are available with SmartServer release 2.8 or higher and defined in the Datapoint Properties widget. 
     • If Set datapoint preset is selected and a preset is defined in the Datapoint Properties widget, then you can select a preset from the Select a preset drop-down list.
     • Go to the Setting Datapoints section for information on how to make datapoint selections. 
       
       
   • Target – defines the target as datapoints or favorite filter (i.e., Datapoints or Favorite).
     
     • If Favorite is selected, a Favorite field appears allowing you to select the favorite filter from a drop-down list. Favorite filters are defined using the Datapoints widget (called the Datapoint Browser widget for SmartServer 3.3 and prior releases). See Managing Favorites in the Testing Devices and Managing Datapoints section for more information. For example, you could create a filter for all set-point input datapoints on all devices with a VAV controller device type, in the Floor 1 zone.
       
       
   • Datapoint Type – specifies the datapoint from a drop-down list. If Datapoints is selected as the Target, go to the Setting Datapoints section for information on how to make datapoint selections.
      
   • Value – for a datapoint value, specifies a scalar value, a string value, or a structure of a selected datapoint type. The datapoint type selector lists all available datapoint types. If the datapoint has a localization rule configured (Datapoint Properties widget → LOCALIZATION tab), then the Value input displays and expects a local value; otherwise, the IAP value is used.
     
     
   • Tags – sets a list of user-defined names that you can use to organize events into logical groups based on the tag names you specify. You can filter events based on tags along with other parameters. If you filter events based on a tag, the SmartServer CMS only displays events with the specified tag in its Tags list.
     
     
     Setting Datapoints
     To set datapoints using the bottom portion of the Create Event view shown below, perform the following steps:

     • Click the Unlock Operations button (Image Modified).
       
       The ability to select datapoints is enabled.

     • Click the Add Datapoints button (Image Modified).
       
       The Add Datapoints To Event view appears.

     • Click the Add Datapoint To Event button (Image Modified) for the desired datapoint.
       
       Or, to select multiple datapoints, click the checkmark () next to the desired datapoints (the checkmark changes from blue to yellow), or click the Select All button ( ) to select all datapoints. Then, click the Add Selected Datapoints To Event button ().
       
       
       
       The datapoint(s) is added to the connection template Details view.
       
       
       
       
     • Click CLOSE to return to the Create Event view.
       
       
       
       
     • Click the Lock Operations button () if you are finished selecting datapoints.
       
       
       
       
4. Click NEXT.
   
   The view that appears allows you to schedule a calendar event based on a date and time as an all-day event for a specified date, or for a specified date and time range. 
   
   
   This view appears allowing you to define the starting date and time if you selected All Day.
   
   
   This view appears allowing you to define the date and time range for the calendar event if you did not select All Day.
   
   

5. If you selected All Day in the previous step, define the starting date and time.

   If you did not select All Day in the previous step, enter the date and time range for the calendar event. Calendar events that are defined for a date and time range can be based on a fixed, local time, or based on sunrise and sunset time.

   The SmartServer calculates sunrise and sunset times based on the latitude and longitude entered for the SmartServer, and a calculated time of the transition from nautical twilight to civil twilight for sunrise, and the transition from civil twilight to nautical twilight for sunset. This transition occurs at an elevation angle of 6° below the horizon. To verify the latitude and longitude settings for your SmartServer, see Verifying the SmartServer Location in the Configure Your SmartServer section. See also Verifying the SmartServer Timezone in the Configure Your SmartServer section to verify that your SmartServer is set to the appropriate timezone for your location prior to scheduling events.

   Use the Offset pulldowns to select Local Time, Sunrise, or Sunset. 
   
   For the Local Time selection, specify the calendar event starting and ending times. For the Sunrise/Sunset selection, specify whether the event should begin and end before or after sunrise/sunset using the pulldowns, and specify the time offset as hour (hh) and minutes (mm) before or after sunrise/sunset.

6. Click NEXT.
   
   
   
   
7. Set the Repeat option for the calendar event as follows (scroll down to see all available options):
   
   
   • No Repeat
     
     
   • Daily (selectable end date may be none, a specific date, or a specific number of repeats)
     
     
   • Every Weekday (selectable end date may be none, a specific date, or a specific number of repeats)
     
     
   • Every Weekend Day (selectable end date may be none, a specific date, or a specific number of repeats)
     
     
   • Weekly Repeat
     • selectable day of the week
     • selectable end date may be none, a specific date, or a specific number of repeats
       
       
   • Monthly Repeat
     • selectable day of the month or the week number and day of the week
     • selectable month may be every month, every even month, or every odd month
     • selectable end date may be none, a specific date, or a specific number of repeats
       
       
8. Click SAVE.
   
   The new event is added to the calendar.
