KB1465 - IP-852 Config Server Not Working
Problem
IP-852 Config Server not working
Solution
Information:
The IP-852 Config Server is installed with OpenLDV.
IP-852 Config server database (two *.BIN files ) is stored in one of these directories :
C:\Program Files (x86)\LonWorks\ConfigServer
C:\Users\Public\Documents\LonWorks\ConfigServer
If you see *.BIN files in both directory then this may cause the IP-852 Config Server not work properly.
The Windows Control panel > LonWorks Interfaces applet Is used to create a IP-852 network interface ( we typically name this “myPC”).
You need to create one for each PC that will access the network using IP-852.
If you don’t see this applet then in the Windows Control panel click the view by (upper-right-hand corner) and select small or large icons.
Use the IP-852 Config Server Show Log button to see a log of communication to the devices.
IP-852 Config Server Colors:
Edge Servers (like SmartServer IoT) should always show up green
PCs including the IP-852 Config Server PC will only show up green for the following reasons:
If you open a network and attached a IP-852 network interface (sometimes called a vni)
If you run a test on the IP-852 network interface in the LonWorks Interfaces Applet.
Some IP-852 Config Server traffic doesn’t work:
In the IP-852 Config Server right-click the channel and select Update Members.
If all devices don’t show up as green then click the Show Log button and run Update Members again.
Do you see any errors in the log that may indicate that it has a problem communicating.
If the PC device shape is red
With the IP-852 Config Server running, run a test the LonWorks Interfaces Applet
If a SmartServer, iLON or third-party device shape is red
Verify that the device has IP-852 Router Configuration enabled
On SmartServer IoT this setting is in the SmartServer Configuration Web page LON tab.
To repair or re-install the IP-852 Config Server:
Backup the IP-852 Config Server *.BIN database
This is only done as a pre-caution as doing a repair or re-install of IP-852 Config Server should affect these files
In the Windows Control Panel > Files and Features right-click “Echelon OpenLDV” and do a repair.
Reboot the PC.
If you still have an issue then download the latest OpenLDV from our Web site
In the Windows Control Panel > Files and Features remove Echelon OpenLDV
Install OpenLDV
Reboot the PC
In the IP-852 Config Server, click the channel and select update members.
The IP-852 Config Server should always be running. If it is not always running you may find that when using a Network Integration tool (like IzoT CT) that some IP-852 traffic work and some doesn’t.
