You can test provisioned devices to confirm they are operating correctly.

To perform these verification routines, perform the following steps:

  1. /wiki/spaces/TEMP/pages/44041710Open the SmartServer IoT CMS.

  2. Open the Devices widget, EDGE DEVICES tab.




  3. Click the Expand button (  ) on the top right of the widget to view all the available information.

  4. Click the Action button () and then select the Wink or Test action.



    For Wink, if the device supports winking, then the device documentation will specify how the device responds to a wink request.

    For Test, the test results appear similar to the example shown below.




  5. To set up another test, scroll down and use the Count slider to set how many times the test will be performed, and then click START.



    An example of the Test results are shown below.




  6. Click CLOSE to exit testing, or set up another test and then click START.

Displaying Device Information

Device State Colors

The SmartServer CMS uses colors to differentiate device states:

Image Removed Dark grey represents devices in a pending delete state.

Note

Light grey and dark grey states only appear if the device is added or deleted using the SmartServer CMS or REST API. These states do not appear if devices are added or deleted using MQTT.

Device Selection Visual Reset

To show a device on the map (Locations widget), perform the following steps:

  1. /wiki/spaces/TEMP/pages/44041710Open the SmartServer IoT CMS.

  2. Open the Devices widget, EDGE DEVICES tab.



  3. Click the Action button () for the desired device and select the Show on Map action.



    The device will appear on the Locations widget (a floor plan in the example below). If the Locations widget is not already displayed on the dashboard, a prompt will appear to confirm opening the Locations widget.

To show device properties, perform the following steps:

  2. Open the Devices widget, EDGE DEVICES tab.



  3. Click the Action button () and select the View All Properties action.



    A table with all of the devices and their properties is displayed.



          For LON, LON PL, BACnet, and Modbus devices, the following properties may be displayed:

    • Name

    • Category

    • UID

    • Firmware Version

    • Asset Tag

    • Description

    • Installation Date

    • Latitude

    • Longitude
    • SID/UID

  4. Click BACK to return to the Devices widget view.

Viewing device datapoints from the Devices widget, EDGE DEVICES tab, displays the following information:

  • Block name
  • Block index
  • Datapoint name
  • Value
  • Preset

The datapoint information that is displayed is a cached value.

To view device datapoints, perform the following steps:

  1. /wiki/spaces/TEMP/pages/44041710Open the SmartServer IoT CMS.

  2. Open the Devices widget, EDGE DEVICES tab.



  3. Click the Action button () for the desired device and select the View Datapoints action.



    Or, to view datapoints for all devices, click the Action button () and select the View All Datapoints action.



    The device datapoints (cached values) are displayed.

  4. Use the scroll bar to view all of the device datapoint information.

    More information about using the Datapoints widget appears in the sections below.

  5. Click BACK to return to the Devices widget view.

To reset a device, perform the following steps:

  1. /wiki/spaces/TEMP/pages/44041710Open the SmartServer IoT CMS.

  2. Open the Devices widget, EDGE DEVICES tab.



  3. Click the Action button () for the desired device and select the Reset action.



    Or, to reset selected devices, click the devices (a checkmark will appear), and then click the Action button () and select the Reset Selected action.



    Or, to reset all devices, click the Action button () and select the Reset All action.



    The selected device(s) is reset. If a device that does not support reset operations was selected, then an error message will appear in the upper-right corner similar to the example below.
