KB1462 - Getting MachineLockRequirement error when trying to activate MT Activation Key

 Problem

If you are using the IzoT CT MT key or IzoT Net Server MT key, and you consistently see MachineLockRequirement then it is possible there is an issue.

The MT keys use the lowest level of License locking mechanism. If you still get the MachineLockRequirement error when trying to activate, then it is likely there is a problem with the Windows installation. A couple of customers have reported this issue after a Windows update which seems to have broken the WMI database (Windows Management Instrumentation).

 Solution

Please open a command prompt, and type the following command:
wmic cpu get processorid


Does that work, or do you get any kind of error message? If there is an error, this shows there is a problem with the WMI database. This is a Windows thing and not really my expertise.

However, we managed to fix the previous Windows installations by doing this:
Stop the stop the WMI service :

STOP winmgmt

Remove the folder “repository” (C:\Windows\System32\wbem\repository)
Activate the WMI service:

START winmgmt
