KB1383 - IzoT CT and OpenLNS CT License FAQ

The first version of IzoT CT was called OpenLNS CT (4.0). The license information for IzoT CT also applies to OpenLNS CT and vice versa.

When you purchase CT, you purchase an activation key and and one or more years of maintenance license (first year is included).

 Information

Activation

To activate IzoT CT you will need to activate two license per PC:

  1. Activate one CT license (sometimes called OpenLNS CT)

  2. Activate one IzoT Net Server license (sometimes called OpenLNS Server).

Activation keys are dependent on the version of CT you purchased. Newly purchased CT activation keys are for IzoT CT release 4.2 or later. If you have an issue activating an older version of CT contact support and let them know the CT version you are using an the activation key.

CT can be used on both PCs and VMs.

IzoT CT licenses are tied to specific hardware, software and bios. If any of that information changes it can invalidate the license. We have seen in a couple of cases is if you have a USB flash drive plugged in when you license CT and then unplug the USB flash drive that changed in the license hardware information and invalidated the license. So a bios update, a windows update or replacing hardware can invalidate the license.

If you are using a VM you need to open the same instance as was licensed. If you open a copy of a licensed VM then it will most likely be unlicensed.

Maintenance License

In addition to an activation key there is a maintenance key. The maintenance key allows you to upgrade the software to a new version. We recommend that you upgrade to 4.5 whether you have or don’t have a maintenance license. CT comes with a 1-year license. After purchasing a maintenance license, activate the activation keys and then contact the support team edge.support@enocean.com so they can extend the maintenance license. The maintenance license can only be extended for already activated licenses.

Tying a license to an email address

You can optionally tie the Activation key licenses to an email address. You must first create an email account using the following link. This allows you to do license recovery or return. If you have issues tying the license to an email account then it is best to try activating without using the email address

Possible Issues

  1. MachineLockRequirement

    1. This means the PC or VM doesn’t meet the minimum requirements for the CT license.

    2. Contact the support team and provide the error message, CT version and Activation key.

  2. License validation failed status = Bioslockfailed

    1. This usually means that the bios, software or hardware changed and invalidated the license or someone open a copy of a licensed VM instead of the instance of the VM that is licensed

    2. The support team needs to return the license and then you can re-activate the license again.

      1. If you have a spare license use that and then contact the support team with the problem license

      2. Contact the support team and provide the error message, CT version and Activation key.

Contact Support

  1. include activation or license id. If an issue also include

    1. The CT software version

    2. Echelon License Wizard version (lower right hand corner of dialog)
