Activating Licenses

License Management is required with SmartServer 3.3 and higher.

License activation involves adding a license to a SmartServer. Activation may be repeated at any time to increase device capacity or extend the maintenance period. License activation can be accomplished online or offline. 

This section describes how to activate SmartServer licenses in online mode as well as offline mode (where the SmartServer does not have Internet access). It also describes how to transfer licenses to the cloud in cases where you may want to replace a device capacity or maintenance license. Transferring licenses to the cloud is available in online mode. 

Offline activation is currently only available for device capacity licenses. To activate maintenance licenses offline, please contact our Customer Success team. You can also contact the Customer Success team to have an offline device capacity activation file generated for you.
