Reprovisioning LON Devices
LON is not support for SmartServer Pi.
You can reprovision discovered LON devices that appear as green in the CMS Devices widget, but that you have not yet explicitly provisioned. This ensures that the devices are provisioned with the correct configuration. For example, if you provision a set of LON devices and then reset your SmartServer to factory defaults as described in Resetting the SmartServer IoT to Factory Defaults, the SmartServer may automatically rediscover the LON devices and mark them as provisioned (green). A second example is a set of LON devices that you have provisioned using an LNS tool such as IzoT CT, and then subsequently create the device in the CMS. In both examples, the SmartServer may have the wrong configuration for the LON devices. To reprovision the LON devices, follow these steps:
- Open the SmartServer CMS.
- Add a capacity license for the devices you will provision if you do not already have sufficient capacity. See Manage Licenses for more information.
- If your SmartServer is running at more than 10 events per second (EPS), temporarily pause event monitoring to speed up the reprovisioning process.
- Open the Devices widget.
- Click the action button () for the desired device and select the Reprovision action.
- If you paused monitoring in step 3, resume event monitoring.
Loading a Device Image
You can update device firmware using the Devices widget. If you are updating more than one device, ensure that the devices are compatible with the image you are loading. To update device firmware, follow these steps:

- If your SmartServer is running at more than 10 events per second (EPS), temporarily pause event monitoring to speed up the loading process.

A message appears indicating that the file is being loaded. - Click the Load button ().
A message appears indicating that the file is being sent to the device.
The CMS downloads and installs the device firmware update. - If you paused monitoring in step 2, resume event monitoring.

- Open the SmartServer CMS.
- Open the Devices widget.
Click the Action button () for the device you wish to replace and select the Replace action.
The Replace device view appears.- If you are replacing an IOX device, then a manual reset is required. Performing a wink action will help identify the device as indicated by the LEDs.

Click REPLACE.
Removing a Device
You can remove a device that is no longer required.
If you remove a discovered LON device with a SmartServer configured for LON DMM, if the device is still accessible to the SmartServer the SmartServer may change the configuration of the device and cause it to stop working. To prevent any modification of a device to be removed, physically remove the device from the LON channel. This will prevent the SmartServer from changing the device's configuration.
To remove a device, follow these steps:
- Open the SmartServer CMS.
- If your SmartServer is running at more than 10 events per second (EPS), temporarily pause event monitoring to speed up the provisioning process.
- Open the Devices widget.
- Click the Action button () on the Devices widget and select the Remove action.
- Click OK in the Confirmation dialog box to remove the selected device.
