Managing the SmartServer Date, Time, Location and Timezone
Changing the date and time is available with SmartServer 3.6 and higher.
For SmartServer 3.3 and prior, see Configure Your SmartServer (Release 3.3 and Prior).
This section consists of the following:
Changing the Location Manually and Setting the Timezone
You can set the SmartServer's location by assigning a context, or by manually setting the location. If you set or change the SmartServer's location by assigning a context or by manually setting the location, then the SmartServer's timezone may also be changed accordingly. Changing the SmartServer's timezone does not affect the SmartServer's location.
To set or change the SmartServer location by assigning a context, see Defining and Using Contexts.
To manually change the SmartServer's location, perform the following steps:
- Open the SmartServer CMS.
- Open the Devices widget, SEGMENT CONTROLLER tab.
- Click the SmartServer's Action button () and select the Edit action.
The SmartServer settings view appears.
This view allows you to set or edit the following SmartServer fields:- Name – (required) name of the SmartServer
- Context – (optional) context that the SmartServer is assigned to
- Latitude / Longitude (optional) – latitude / longitude location of the SmartServer
- Tags – (optional) semicolon-separated set of <key>=<value> pairs
- Description – (optiona) description
- Timezone – (required) timezone of the SmartServer
- Set the SmartServer location in one of the following ways:
- Assign or change the context.
- Set the latitude / longitude in the appropriate fields.
Click the Set Location button (). The Set Location view appears.
Use the + button to zoom in and the - button to zoom out on the map, and set the location.
Click OK.
The SmartServer settings view appears with the updated location.
- To set the timezone, enter the region in the provided field and then select the timezone from the provided list.
- Click Save.
Changing the Date, Time, and Timezone
You can set the SmartServer CMS date, time, and timezone to use the network time server or the BACnet time server as its source. You can also manually set the date, time, and timezone.
If you set or change the SmartServer's location by assigning a context or by manually setting the location, then the SmartServer's timezone may also be changed accordingly. Changing the SmartServer's timezone does not affect the SmartServer's location.
To change the SmartServer date, time, and timezone, perform the following steps:
Click the date and time on the CMS dashboard.
If you are using Remote CMS, you can also set the date, time, and timezone for all SmartServers or for a specific SmartServer. See also Changing the Date, Time, and Timezone for All SmartServers using the Devices Widget and Changing the Date, Time, and Timezone for a SmartServer using the Devices Widget. These procedures are also available for Local CMS.

Local CMS
Remote CMS- For Local CMS only, set the Time Source (i.e., Network Time Server, BACnet Time Server, or Manual).
- For Network Time Server time source (Local CMS only), enter a valid IP or the name of the Network Time Protocol (NTP) server.
- For Manual time source, perform the following steps:
- Set the date and time in the appropriate fields (Local CMS only).
- Use the dropdown menu to select the timezone (Local CMS and Remote CMS).
- For timezone, enter the region in the provided field and then select the timezone from the provided list.
- Click OK to save date/time/timezone changes.
Changing the Date, Time, and Timezone for a SmartServer
You can change the date, time, and timezone for a particular SmartServer from the Devices widget by following the steps below. The procedure that follows shows a Remote CMS environment.
- Open the Devices widget, SEGMENT CONTROLLER tab.
- Click the Action button () for the desired SmartServer and select the Change Date and Time action.
The Change Date and Time dialog appears.
Set the Time Source (i.e., Network Time Server, BACnet Time Server, or Manual).
For Network Time Server time source, enter a valid IP or the name of the Network Time Protocol (NTP) server.
For Manual time source, perform the following steps:
Set the date and time in the appropriate fields.
Use the dropdown menu to select the timezone.
- For timezone, enter the region in the provided field and then select the timezone from the provided list.
Click OK to save date/time/timezone changes.
Changing the Date, Time, and Timezone for All SmartServers
You can change the date, time, and timezone for all SmartServers from the Devices widget by following the steps below. The procedure that follows shows a Remote CMS environment.
- Open the Devices widget, SEGMENT CONTROLLER tab.
Click the Action button () and select the Change Date and Time for All action.
The Change Date and Time dialog appears.- Set the Time Source (i.e., Network Time Server, BACnet Time Server, or Manual).
- For Network Time Server time source, enter a valid IP or the name of the Network Time Protocol (NTP) server.
- For Manual time source, perform the following steps:
- Set the date and time in the appropriate fields.
- Use the dropdown menu to select the timezone.
- For timezone, enter the region in the provided field and then select the timezone from the provided list.
- Click OK to save date/time/timezone changes.
