Connect the i.LON 700 Console Interface

You can connect to the console interface of the i.LON 700 to directly access the Linux console for advanced system configuration. You can connect to the console interface using an SSH client such as PuTTY on your computer connected to the i.LON 700 over the LAN Ethernet interface, or use a serial terminal emulator over the USB console interface.

To use the USB console interface, use a USB cable with a Micro-B plug and connect it to the console receptacle on the i.LON 700. The following figure displays the console receptacle on the i.LON 700. 


If you are using a serial terminal emulator, you may have to set the virtual COM port (VCP). To enable this option, open the Windows Device Manager by typing Device Manager in the Windows search box, expand the Universal Serial Bus Controllers category, right-click the USB Serial Converter device that was added when you plugged in the console connector, and then click Properties. Click the Advanced tab and then set the Load VSP option as shown below.
